Heineken New STR Bottle

Looks like Heineken is stepping up their game and really jumping outside their box. The aluminum beer bottles are nothing new, they have been around for few years, but here Heineken's new STR bottle has a unique feature that will make people look. It has UV ink that glows in the dark, meaning that if you're in a lounge you might have a better conversation starter, only if you have nothing else to talk about. The STR bottle is a limited run, so don't expect to see it in Seven Eleven on the roads. You will have to hunt for it in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington DC.

I see this design to be very brave and very "twenty-elevenish". I think it's time to act our age and decade. I give thumbs up to Heineken for great and refreshing design bottle.

Is that a TV?

Isn't it little amusing when someone enters your house and the main focal point in your apartment is your television? No matter the size or brand, it always stands out. People took this problem into a norm since TV became such a big part of our civilization. Even if you don't watch cable television, you might play video games on it, browse your media attachment like Apple TV or Boxee, or just watch old DVDs of your wedding or that sport game from when you were a kid.

Sony took this into some heavy thinking and with the modern technological possibilities have designed an addition to your living space that doesn't add clutter or bulky plastics. Bravia NX800 Series are a masterpiece of televisions. This is Bang & Olufsen of TVs.

This is trully minimal design... that can fit in anyone's living room and become a piece of art.

Efficient Currency Design

Imagine if government actually took time and though about efficiency and ease of use. Well Mac Funamizu made an example of such government. On his blog Mac outlined how

travelers and other people who are not accustomed to the currency would be able to easily remember how much each of these coins is.

So Mac designed a simple solution, and I think he hit the spot.

If you have traveled to Europe, the first thing you'll notice is how different their currency looks from US currency. I would agree that US currency is not the prettiest or the easiest currency to understand. It looks very conservative and very imperialistic. It fails to reflect "young and free" ideology of the country.

Check out Mac Funamizu's work or follow him on Twitter. You'll find that simplicity is the answer to the most complex problems.
